Jules Rimet Cup
At the start of the very first world cup in Uruguay in 1930 The
president of Fifa Jules Rimet (see picture) hands Over the trophy
to the president of Uruguay, Dr Paul Jude. Uruguay won the trophy
by beating their great rivals Argentina 4-2 in the final.

The second world cup was held in Italy in 1934 and was Won by the
host nation who beat Czechoslovakia 2-1 in The final. The third world
cup was held in France in 1938. Italy went on to win the trophy for
a second time after Beating Hungary 4-2 in the final.
The fourth world cup took place in Brazil in 1950. The host Nation
were favourites to win the trophy after reaching the Final. Uruguay
who also reached the finals stunned the 200,000 Brazilian fans by
beating Brazil 2-1 at the maracana.
From 1930 to 1950 the 'Jules Rimet' trophy was mounted onto A small
base that had room for only four victors. 1930 Uruguay, 1934 Italia,
1938 Italia and 1950 Uruguay. After the 1954 finals the base was changed
forever to make room for other winners.
